What is the difference between power distribution box and lighting distribution box?

Distribution boxes are divided into power distribution boxes and lighting distribution boxes, both of which are the final equipment of the power distribution system. Both are strong electricity.

The incoming line of the lighting distribution box is 220VAC/1 or 380AVC/3, the current is below 63A, and the load is mainly illuminators (below 16A) and other small loads.

Air conditioners in civil buildings can also be powered by lighting distribution boxes. The choice of lighting distribution circuit breakers is generally distribution type or lighting type (medium or small short-term overload multiple).

The incoming line of the power distribution box is 380AVC/3, which is mainly used for power distribution of power equipment such as motors. When the total incoming line current of lighting distribution is greater than 63A, it is also classified as a power distribution box. For power distribution circuit breakers, choose distribution type or power type (medium or large short-time overload multiple).

The main differences are:

1. The functions are different.

The power distribution box is mainly responsible for the power supply of power or the joint use of power and lighting, such as exceeding 63A level, non-terminal power distribution or the upper-level power distribution of the lighting distribution box; the lighting distribution box is mainly responsible for Power supply for lighting, such as ordinary sockets, motors, lighting tools and other electrical equipment with small loads.

2. The installation methods are different.

Although both are terminal equipment of the power distribution system, due to different functions, the installation methods are also different. The power distribution box is floor-mounted, and the lighting distribution box is wall-mounted.

3. Different loads.

The biggest difference between the power distribution box and the lighting distribution box is that the connected loads are different. Therefore, the power distribution box usually has a three-phase load lead, and the lighting distribution box has a single-phase power lead.

3. The capacity is different.

The capacity of the power distribution box is larger than that of the lighting distribution box, and there are more circuits. The main loads of the lighting distribution box are lighting fixtures, ordinary sockets and small motor loads, etc., and the load is smaller. Most of them are single-phase power supply, the total current is generally less than 63A, the single outlet loop current is less than 15A, and the total current of the power distribution box is generally greater than 63A.

5. Different volumes. Due to different capacities and different internal circuit breakers, the two distribution boxes will also have different box volumes. Generally, power distribution boxes are larger in size.

6. The requirements are different.

Lighting distribution boxes are generally allowed to be operated by non-professionals, while power distribution boxes are usually only allowed to be operated by professionals.

The maintenance work of the distribution box during use cannot be ignored. The following points should be paid attention to: moisture resistance, high temperature resistance, corrosive gases and liquids, etc. When performing maintenance work, you should pay attention to the following three points:

First of all, before cleaning the power distribution cabinet, remember to disconnect the power supply and then clean it. If you clean it while the power is on, it will easily lead to leakage, short circuit, etc. So be sure to check that the circuit is disconnected before starting cleaning;

Secondly, when cleaning the power distribution cabinet, avoid moisture remaining in the power distribution cabinet. If moisture is found, it should be wiped clean with a dry rag to ensure that the power distribution cabinet can only be powered on when it is dry.

Remember not to use corrosive chemicals to clean the power distribution cabinet, and avoid contact with corrosive liquids or air. If the power distribution cabinet comes into contact with corrosive liquid or air, its appearance will easily be corroded and rusted, affecting its appearance and not conducive to its maintenance.
